Osaka Bill Clearing House

...The organization formed by financial institutions for the purpose of bill clearing is also called a bill clearing house. The first one was established overseas in London in 1773, and in Japan the Osaka Bill Clearing House was established in 1879, followed by the Tokyo Bill Clearing House in 1887. There are clearing houses designated by the Minister of Justice and undesignated (private) clearing houses, and there are more than 700 of them nationwide.
