… Osaka was not doing as well as Kyoto and Edo during the Kan'ei period, but in 1648 (Keian 1), Ito Dewa-jo, along with Jirobei and others, performed Shinranki and was banned by the Hongan-ji Temple (Awazu Family Documents), so he had already received the Dewa-jo title (Chonin Juryoki, 1658) and had his own puppet troupe. Among the tayu who were active in this troupe were Osaka Jirobei and Okamoto Fumiya (Fumiya-bushi).
