This is a disease caused by exposure to atomic bombs, hydrogen bombs, or damage to nuclear reactors. It is affected by the sum of various factors at the time of exposure. That is, the effects of the blast and flying debris, burns from heat rays, the effects of ultraviolet rays, the effects of X-rays, gamma rays, and beta rays, the effects of isotopes formed in the body by neutron rays, and the effects of radioactive fallout. There are acute symptoms that occur immediately after exposure and chronic symptoms that appear after a considerable period of time. Systemic reactions after exposure include fatigue, heavy head, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea, and the number of white blood cells decreases, and if the number falls below 3,000 per 1 mm3 , recovery becomes difficult. Damage also occurs to the reproductive glands and the lens of the eye. Many people develop leukemia or cancer many years after exposure to the atomic bomb.
