...Its predecessor was Osaka Boseki Co., Ltd., founded in 1882. In 1914, with the help of Eiichi Shibusawa, Toyo Boseki Co., Ltd. merged with Mie Boseki Co., Ltd. (established in 1880) to form Toyo Boseki Co., Ltd. In 1931, it merged with Osaka Godo Boseki Co., Ltd. (established in 1900), one of the top five spinning companies at the time, and became the world's largest spinning company in both name and reality. During World War II, the company lost 85% of its facilities, and after the war, the dissolution of the zaibatsu conglomerates exposed it to major crises, including being subject to the Act on the Elimination of Excessive Concentration of Economic Power and being designated as a restricted company. ...
