The royal family of the Li clan, along with the royal family of the Northern Zhou Yuwen clan and the royal family of the Sui Yang clan, were from the Wuchuanzhen warlords, one of the six military corps deployed in the north by the Northern Wei dynasty, and many of the politics and systems of the Tang dynasty were inherited from those of the Northern Zhou and Sui dynasties. The name of the country, the Tang dynasty, is said to come from the fact that Li Yuan's grandfather Li Hu was given the title of Duke of Tang, which corresponds to Taiyuan County in the Han dynasty, by the Northern Zhou dynasty, and Li Yuan was promoted to King of Tang by the Sui dynasty. *Some of the terminology used to refer to "Henan Second Town" is listed below.
