The problems with financing for small and medium-sized enterprises in Japan are deeply connected to the dual structure of finance, which can be considered a reflection of the dual structure that exists in the real world of the Japanese economy. The dual structure of the economy does not just mean the existence of large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises, but also means that the two coexist with a large productivity gap. As seen in recent discussions of venture businesses, there are some small and medium-sized enterprises that maintain high technological standards and are highly productive, resulting in high profit rates, but generally speaking, it cannot be denied that the productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises is significantly lower than that of large corporations, and that their management is quite unstable.
