It is a field that studies the correspondence between psychological phenomena and physiological mechanisms, and began with the establishment of psychophysics and experimental psychology in the second half of the 19th century. Wundt named his major work "Physiological Psychology." Today, physiological psychology is roughly divided into psychophysiology and physiological psychology. The former examines psychological phenomena such as anxiety and fear using galvanic skin reflexes, electroencephalograms, electromyograms, and electrocardiograms, while the latter examines how psychological phenomena change due to drug administration or brain stimulation.
