Golden Land

...A legendary golden country that the 16th century Spanish conquistadors believed to exist in the New World and searched for fervently. It is translated as "Land of Gold." This legend is said to have originated from a ritual in which the chief of the Chibcha people of Bogotá would make an offering to the spirits of Lake Guatavita once a year and bathe in gold dust, which the Spanish distorted and exaggerated.
