It means "rhythmic movement" or "rhythmic harmony", but is generally known as "musical eurythmy". It is a method for expressing each element of musical sound that cannot be seen with the eyes through the movement of the limbs that can be seen through auditory perception. It was introduced into the music education of the Free Waldorf School, founded in Stuttgart in 1919 by the German philosopher Rudolf Steiner. There, musical eurythmy is emphasized as an effective role to allow children to experience music, which is essential to their souls, by activating multiple senses at the same time. There are certain rules for expressing each element of music, such as pitch, melody, rhythm, tempo, harmony, sharp and flat, piano and forte, crescendo and decrescendo, consonance and dissonance, and phrase and rest. For example, when expressing musical intervals, each interval from 1st to 7th is expressed by physical movement starting from the collarbone, down the upper and forehand arms to the fingertips, and finally an octave is expressed by a broad, wrapping movement of both arms around the body.
