Hero of Greek mythology. King of Calydon, he was the first to be taught how to grow grapes by Dionysus, and is said to have named the resulting wine Oinos after himself. He married Althaea and had sons including Meleager, the hero of the famous Calydonian boar hunt, and daughters including Deianira, who became the wife of Hercules. During his reign, an accident during the hunt caused Althaea to kill Meleager and then commit suicide. He took Periboea as his second wife, and gave birth to Tydeus, one of the seven generals who attacked Thebes, and is said to have been the grandfather of Diomedes, hero of the Trojan War.

ギリシア神話の英雄。カリュドンの王で，ディオニュソスより最初にぶどうの栽培を教えられ，できた酒を自分自身の名にちなみオイノスと命名したという。アルタイアと結婚し，有名なカリュドンの猪狩の主人公メレアグロスをはじめとする息子たちと，ヘラクレスの妻となったデイアネイラなどの娘たちをもうけた。彼の治世に行われたこの狩りの最中の事故が原因で，アルタイアがメレアグロスを殺したうえで自害して果てると，ペリボイアを後妻にめとり，テーベ攻めの7将の一人テュデウスを生ませ，トロイ戦争の英雄ディオメデスの祖父となったとされる。
