Kamae [town] - Kamae

Japanese: 蒲江[町] - かまえ

A former town in Minamiamabe County, in the southeastern tip of Oita Prefecture. The main settlement, with its natural harbor, is on the sunken coast of the Hyuga Nada Sea. Fishing for sardines, yellowtail, and sea bream is practiced here, and pearl farming is also carried out. Citrus fruit cultivation and pig farming are thriving. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Saiki City along with Minamiamabe County's Kamiura Town, Yayoi Town, Ume Town, Tsurumi Town, Honjo Village, Naokawa Village, and Yonemizu Village. 91.79 ^km2 . 9,445 people (2003).

大分県南東端の南海部(みなみあまべ)郡の旧町。日向(ひゅうが)灘の沈降海岸に天然の良港をもつ主集落がある。イワシ，ブリ，タイなどを漁獲し，真珠養殖も行われる。柑橘(かんきつ)栽培，養豚が盛ん。2005年３月南海部郡上浦町，弥生町，宇目町，鶴見町，本匠村，直川村，米水津村と佐伯市へ編入。91.79km²。9445人（2003）。
