Absorption heat pump

...In a vapor compression heat pump, the refrigerant receives heat from the outside air, groundwater, wastewater, etc. in the evaporator and becomes vapor. It is compressed in the compressor to increase its pressure and temperature, then it is liquefied by giving up heat to the cooling fluid in the condenser (or releasing heat in the radiator), and returns to the evaporator inlet through the expansion valve. In the latter absorption heat pump, the refrigerant that absorbs heat in the evaporator is absorbed by the absorbent, and the solution is pressurized and heated to generate refrigerant vapor, which is then led to the condenser. It is said that Kelvin prototyped a heat pump that used air as a medium around 1852, but it was not put to practical use until the 1930s.
