A former town in Yufutsu District, Hokkaido. It occupies the middle and upper reaches of the Mukawa River, which originates in the southern Yubari Mountains, and is mostly mountain forest. In addition to agriculture and forestry, it also engages in agricultural and forestry processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing. In March 2006, it merged with Mukawa Town, Yufutsu District, to become Mukawa Town, Yufutsu District. Area: 546.48 km2 . Population: 3,835 (2003). 北海道勇払(ゆうふつ)郡の旧町。夕張山地南部に発する鵡川(むかわ)の中・上流地域を占め，大部分は山林。農業，林業のほか，農林加工，医薬品製造も行う。2006年３月，勇払郡鵡川町と合併し町制，勇払郡むかわ町となる。546.48km2。3835人（2003）。
