A former town in Yufutsu District, Hokkaido. It occupies the middle and upper reaches of the Mukawa River, which originates in the southern Yubari Mountains, and is mostly mountain forest. In addition to agriculture and forestry, it also engages in agricultural and forestry processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
