The original Mongolian title was Erdenin Topchi (spelled treasure), and in 1777, during the 42nd year of the Qianlong era in the Qing Dynasty of China, it was translated into Chinese and titled The Origin of Mongolia. It begins with a story about the origin of the Mongolian people based on Buddhist thought, and covers the general history of Mongolia up to the time of the author. …
