...Due to its unique characteristics of small size, high sensitivity, and high-speed scanning, it has rapidly become popular and now surpasses magnetic-field types. In the future, the mainstream will likely shift to tandem mass spectrometers (MS-MS), which combine two mass spectrometers (abbreviated as MS) in series. The main parts of a mass spectrometer are the ion source, which ionizes and accelerates the sample to be measured or analyzed, the analysis field, which separates and analyzes the ions according to their mass, and the detection section, which detects and measures the separated ions.
