《Eptameron》 - Eptameron

Japanese: 《
《Eptameron》 - Eptameron

… The Decameron was handwritten and spread throughout Italy, and was passed on to such Renaissance short story writers as Franco Sacchetti, Lor Giovanni Fiorentino, Masuccio Salernitano, and Matteo Bandello, but in the 16th century it was added to the Roman Catholic Index as an avowed book that blasphemed the sanctity of the Church and the clergy. However, the collection of stories spread throughout Europe in manuscript form and was read and loved, leading to works such as Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in England and Queen Marguerite of Navarre's Heptameron in France, which led to modern literature. In Japan, Koyo Ozaki adapted a story from this work to write Hawk Dishes during the Meiji period, and several other adaptations have been made, but the essential erotic stories have never been introduced. …

From Marguerite of Navarre

…In his spare time from his busy official duties, he wrote lyric poems filled with religious ideas, as well as religious and secular dramas, all of which dealt with themes such as the search for true love, the longing for love, or satire of formulaic faith. His masterpiece, “Heptameron” (1559), also borrows the framework of “Decameron” and deals with erotic literary themes, but with his sharp observations of the various aspects of human love and hate and his consistent question of “what is love?”, he paved the way for modern psychological novels. Japanese:
