Evans-Benz, WY

...A Tibetan esoteric text. It is commonly called the Tibetan "Book of the Dead" in contrast to the Egyptian "Book of the Dead". The official title is "Great Liberation (Dol) by Hearing (Toe) in the State of the Bardo (Intermediate State) from the 'Profound Religious Book that Liberates Oneself by Contemplating Peaceful and Wrathful Gods'". It was written by the saint Padmasambhava (Lotus Buddhism), the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, and is one of the hidden sutras (termas) hidden in Mount Gampodar on the banks of the Selden River. It is said to have been perceived and excavated by Rigzin Karlimpa (14th century?), a psychic and spiritually gifted man who was the fifth reincarnation of Padmasambhava.
