…In the early days of the Northern and Southern Courts, Seki Hachirozaemon-no-jo and his men, who were on the side of the Southern Court and had set sail from Ise Province for Oshu, were shipwrecked at sea and washed up on Enoshima. The battle that became known as the Battle of Enoshima took place in April 1450 (Houtoku 2). There had been conflicts between the Kanto kubo Ashikaga Shigeuji and the Yamauchi family chief retainer Nagao Kagenaka and the Ogigayatsu family chief retainer Ota Sukekiyo, and Shigeuji based himself in Enoshima, where fierce battles took place at Koshigoe and Yuigahama, and were brought to an end with the mediation of the Muromachi Shogunate. …
