Kahariye Camii (English spelling)

Japanese: カハリエ･ジャーミー（英語表記）Kahariye Camii

This mosque is located in the north of the old city of Istanbul in western Turkey. It is also called the Chora Monastery (Christos tes Choras). The mosaics decorating the interior are masterpieces of Palaiologos art (1261-1453). It was first built in the 5th century, but fell into disrepair in the 11th century and was rebuilt in the early 12th century by Maria Doukas, the niece of Isaac Comnenos. After it was further devastated during the occupation of Constantinople by the Fourth Crusade (1204-61), it was renovated by Theodoros Metochites, the prefect of the monastery, using his own funds in 1315-21 during the reign of Andronikos Palaiologos, and took on its present form.

トルコ西部，イスタンブールの旧市街の北にあるモスク。コーラ修道院Christos tes Chorasともいう。内部を飾るモザイクはパレオロゴス朝(1261‐1453)美術の代表作。創建は5世紀にさかのぼるが，11世紀には荒れ果て，イサキウス･コムネノスの姪マリア･ドゥカスにより12世紀初めに再建された。さらに第4回十字軍のコンスタンティノープル占領(1204‐61)による荒廃後，アンドロニコス･パレオロゴス統治下の1315‐21年に財産管理長官テオドロス･メトキテスが私財を使って改装し，現在の形となった。
