In the second half of the 13th century, Nogai, the great-grandson of Juchi Khan, established his power in the vast area between the Don and Danube rivers, and his descendant Edigü (Edigei) established the virtually independent state of Nogai Horde (Nogai Khanate) in the late 14th century to the early 15th century, with its capital at Saraichik (Saraijük) downstream of the Yaik River. They occupied the center of the grasslands north of the Aral Sea and the Caspian Sea, and engaged in active commercial activities, and in the 16th century they shipped tens of thousands of horses and sheep to Moscow and Kazan every year. ...
