...The larvae attach to willows, emerge in summer, and overwinter as eggs. There are three species of red-winged benishitaba in Japan, and the similar species C. nupta lives mainly in central and northern Honshu, where its larvae attach to poplar and poplar. The red-winged benishitaba C. dula has vermilion-colored hind wings and attaches to Japanese oak, sawtooth oak, and oak.
