Gangrenous stomatitis

Japanese: 壊疽性口内炎 - えそせいこうないえん(英語表記)gangrenous stomatitis
Gangrenous stomatitis
A severe form of stomatitis caused by infection with multiple bacteria. It is also known as "water cancer." It often develops when the immune system is extremely weakened due to malnutrition, and hygiene problems such as water pollution are also thought to be contributing factors. Gangrene develops from the gums in the mouth and spreads to the face, including the chin and nose. As the disease progresses quickly, prevention and early detection are important. Patients can be found in African countries, Asia, and some South American countries, but it is particularly prevalent in Niger in West Africa.
