Born on February 13, 1816. Fourth son of Ichijo Tadayoshi. Father of Empress Shoken. Older brother of Koga Takemichi. In 1818, he was awarded the rank of Junior Third Rank, in 1852, Minister of the Interior, and in 1853, Minister of the Left. Junior First Rank. In 1862, he was appointed to the newly established position of State Affairs Officer along with his son Saneyoshi. His adopted daughter was also the wife of Tokugawa Yoshinobu, and he supported the Hitotsubashi faction on the issue of the succession to the shogun. He was a supporter of the union of the Imperial Court and the Shogunate, and was in conflict with the Sonjou (revere the expulsion of the nobles). He died on November 7, 1863. He was 52 years old.
