A sport in which riders ride wild horses and wrestle and ride rampaging cattle. It originated as a contest between cowboys in the American West, and later came to be held as a spectacle with an admission fee. Rodeo is a Spanish word meaning "to go around" or "to wander around". It was introduced to America and came to mean cowboys riding horses to check on and count livestock, and eventually came to mean a sport. The first rodeo as a spectacle was held in Denver, Colorado in 1887. In 1936, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association was formed for the purpose of holding rodeo shows, and the rules were standardized and various ideas were added, and shows began to be held in various places. It is held in Canada and Australia as well as in the United States. After World War II, it became popular as a sport among students and the general public.
