A language spoken in southern Asia Minor around the 15th century BCE, it is one of the so-called Anatolian languages. It is known from documents in cuneiform script belonging to the Indo-European language family. Hittite hieroglyphic inscriptions from a later period also seem to be a dialect of Luvian, and Lycian is thought to be closely related.
