A bullet that glows as it flies, allowing the bullet's flight to be monitored with the naked eye and its trajectory to be adjusted to hit the target. It is also called a tracer bullet. A space is taken up at the bottom of the bullet, and luminous materials such as barium nitrate (green), strontium nitrate (red), and sodium nitrate (yellow) are filled in, which ignite when fired to produce a tracer. It is mainly used in machine guns and cannons, and is effective when used for anti-aircraft fire or as a machine gun mounted on an aircraft. In practice, it is mixed in appropriate proportions with normal bullets, armor-piercing bullets, incendiary bullets, etc., but in the case of large-caliber bullets, composite bullets are also made that incorporate tracer materials into each bullet.
