Unsekiji - Unsekiji

...Yoshida, located on alluvial plain near the confluence of the Tajihi River and the Kawai River flowing northeast, is the center of the area. After the Nanboku-cho period, the Mori clan built Koriyama Castle here and used it as their base. It flourished as a castle town until 1591 (Tensho 19), when Mori Terumoto moved to Hiroshima Castle. During the Edo period, it was a post station on the Unsekiji road connecting the San'in region with Hiroshima Castle, and also had a port for shipping along the Kawai River. It was commonly known as "Yoshida Senken." Paddy fields have been developed along the Kawai River, where rice, vegetables, and shiitake mushrooms are cultivated, and an industrial complex has also been developed.
