…As for private kilns, the Naeshirogawa Kiln, established by naturalized potter Paku Hei-i, was located in Higashiichiki-cho and mainly produced everyday items using white and black glazes. In 1786 (Tenmei 6), Ijichi Dan'emon, a vassal of Kitago Hisatsura, the lord of Hirasa-go, invited a potter from Arita to establish the Hirasa Kiln, where he fired the first porcelain. Hirasa Sansai, which was made by applying a tortoiseshell-like sansai glaze to a porcelain base, became popular overseas. The porcelain base with gold brocade, which was produced in large quantities for overseas markets from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period, is particularly famous. …

…民窯としては，帰化陶工の朴平意がきずいた苗代川（なえしろがわ）窯が東市来町にあり，やはり白釉と黒釉をつかって日常雑具をおもに焼造した。1786年(天明6)になると平佐郷の領主北郷久陣（ほんごうひさつら）の家臣伊地知団右衛門が有田から陶工をまねいて平佐窯をおこし，はじめて磁器を焼き，磁胎にべっこう調の三彩釉をかけた平佐三彩は海外でも人気を博した。幕末から明治にかけて海外むけに大量につくられた陶胎金襴手はとくに名高い。…
