Even balance

A balance with a pan on each end of a beam. It is less accurate than a normal balance, but because it is easy to operate, it is used for weighing purposes that do not require precision. Usually, the sample is weighed by calculating the sum of the mass of the sample and the balanced weight, but there are also direct-reading types that allow the measurement value to be read directly. 竿の両端の上に皿を載せたてんびん。通常のてんびんに比べて精度は悪いが，測定操作が容易なので，精度を要しない秤量用に用いられる。普通は試料と釣合いのとれた分銅の質量の総和を計算して秤量するが，測定値を直読できる直示型のものもある。
