...There were also many cases in which a special, close relationship continued between the wet nurse and the child throughout their life. There is another type of uba, which refers to an old woman, using the characters 'ouba' or 'oba'. The 'ouba' that appears with the 'jo' (the chief priest) in Noh plays is a typical example, but there are many other legends throughout Japan about women called 'ouba'.
