...The person who led the movement was Shimizu Seifu (Nihei), a toy researcher in Kanda, Tokyo. He published a collection of pictures of these traditional toy dolls scattered all over the country, called Unai no Tomo, in 1891, and published six volumes by 1913. After his death, the Japanese painter Nishizawa Fueho took over and was in charge of the first ten volumes in 1924, completing the series after 33 years or so since the first volume. ...
