Mayumi Aoki
1953- A female swimmer from the late Showa to Heisei eras.
Born May 1, 1953. Joined the Yamada Swimming Club in Osaka, where she set a succession of new Japanese records, and won the gold medal in the 100m butterfly at the Munich Olympics in 1972 with a new world record of 1 minute 3.3 seconds. She was the first gold medalist in a women's individual event in 36 years, since Hideko Maehata. She graduated from Tenri University and became a high school teacher. She was born in Kumamoto Prefecture. Her real name is Mayumi Nishiguchi.
