Year of birth: 1793
An ukiyo-e artist from the late Edo period. He is said to have been born in 1795 (Kansei 7). Born in Shinano, his surname was Yoshikawa, and he was commonly known as Taizo, and later Shirobei. His older brother was the comic novelist Shuntei Sankyo. He was a pupil of the first Utagawa Toyokuni, and was mainly active in the field of illustrations for novels such as Tamenaga Shunsui's Ninjyohon.
