〘 noun 〙 Folk dance. For rain-making ceremonies and Bon Odori, young men wear large mortar-like drums on their chests and dance while beating them. It is often accompanied by ondo songs, gongs , and flutes. It is often seen in the Kyushu region, and in Okinawa it is danced by women. 〘名〙 民俗舞踊。雨乞いや盆踊に、青年たちが臼のように大きな太鼓を胸につけ、これを打ちながら踊る。多く、音頭の歌、鉦(かね)、笛を伴奏とする。九州地方に多くみられ、沖縄では女性が踊る。
