Sliding, gliding, slumping
Gravity causes small chunks of rock to slide, and sedimentary rocks generally slide from a fixed location due to faults. What makes this type of block movement different is that there is little internal flow, bedding is preserved, and even if the rocks are folded or faulted, their origins remain intact [Twenhofel: 1932, Carter: 1975].

岩石の小さな塊が重力によって滑ることで，決まった場所から堆積岩が欠陥によって滑るのが一般である．他の塊状の移動形式と異なるのは，内部的な流れが少なく層理が保たれており，褶曲や断層を受けていてもそれらの起源が残されていること［Twenhofel : 1932, Carter : 1975］．
