Sliding, gliding, slumping

Gravity causes small chunks of rock to slide, and sedimentary rocks generally slide from a fixed location due to faults. What makes this type of block movement different is that there is little internal flow, bedding is preserved, and even if the rocks are folded or faulted, their origins remain intact [Twenhofel: 1932, Carter: 1975].
