Hagiwara Otokichi, Senpei, and Mojuro of Higashikamiisobe Village, Usui County, gathered together sericulture farmers who engaged in zaguri silk-reeling to form the Usui Zaguri Seishisha, which shipped silk to Yokohama while working together to return it to the sea. Inspired by the activities of the Maebashi zaguri association, this experiment was a success, and in the following year of 1879, 12 more similar associations appeared in the county, which united to form the Usui Seishisha (head office in Haraichi Town). …

...These finishing processes were sometimes concentrated by small reeling businesses or sometimes by raw silk merchants. The first silk-reeling association by small reeling businesses was the Koshi group, which was formed in 1877 by wealthy farmer Hoshino Chotaro and others in Minamiseta district, Gunma prefecture (which developed into Seitohara-sha in 1878 with samurai from the former Maebashi domain). Influenced by this, Usui Zakuri Seishi-sha (which developed into Usui Seishi-sha in 1879 and was renamed Usui-sha in 1884) was formed in Usui district, Gunma prefecture, in 1878, and Kitakanra Seishi-sha was formed in Kitakanra district, Gunma prefecture, in 1880. Maebashi-cho raw silk merchants also established return centers such as Shoritsu-sha and Tenhara-sha in 1879, and raw silk merchants in Koriyama-cho, Fukushima prefecture jointly established Seisei-gumi (1880) and Shinsei-gumi (1881).

…こうした仕上工程の集中は，座繰小経営が連合して行う場合と生糸商人によってなされる場合とがあった。　座繰小経営による製糸結社の嚆矢（こうし）は77年に群馬県南勢多郡の豪農星野長太郎らが結成した亙瀬組(1878年旧前橋藩士族らとの精糸原社へ発展)であり，その影響を受けて同県碓氷郡でも78年に碓氷座繰精糸社(1879年碓氷精糸社へ発展，84年碓氷社と改称)が結成され，80年には同県北甘楽郡で北甘楽精糸社が結成された。前橋町生糸商も1879年に昇立社･天原社などの揚返所を設け，福島県郡山町の生糸商は共同で正製組(1880)や真製組(1881)を設立した。…
