...During his life in France from 1928 to 1939, he came into contact with such Surrealists as Breton, Aragon, and Perret, and came to the realization that the ``marvelous'' that they sought was literally omnipresent in reality in Latin America.He named this ``marvelous reality'' and, based on this theory, began a long and fruitful creative career, starting with ``Equé Yamba Hau'' (1933). His representative works include "Lost Footprints" (1953), which reveals the complex nature of life in the New World through the journey of a musician who travels up the Orinoco River in search of primitive musical instruments; "Century of Light" (1962), which closely follows the results of the great revolution that spread to the Caribbean; "Revisiting Method" (1974), which traces the elegant days and miserable end of an enlightened dictator; "The Rite of Spring" (1978), which tells the turbulent fate of a family in conjunction with historical events such as World War I, the Spanish Civil War, the Mexican Revolution, and the Cuban Revolution; and "Harp and Shadow" (1979), a story about the celebration of Columbus. His other works include the medium-length works "The Pursuit" (1956), "The Right of Asylum" (1972), and "Baroque Concerto" (1974), as well as the short story "The Battle against Time" (1958), and many other works related to music.
