〘名〙① まだ夜が明けないのに浮きたつさまに鳴いて朝を告げる鶏。※新撰朗詠(12C前)下「薄媚(なさけな)き狂鶏(ウカレトリ)の三更(あけもはてぬ)に暁を唱ふる〈張文成〉」② ひとところに落ち着かないで飛び回る鳥。夜、ねぐらを離れて浮かれ歩く鳥。※大観本謡曲・藤(室町末)「月は出でてもむば玉の、よるべ定めぬ浮かれ鳥、鳴く音も法(のり)の声添へて」
