...He studied at Airin School in Hakodate and engaged in missionary work in Biratori and other places. He inherited the yukar traditions passed down by his mother Monasinou-ku, and left about 160 notebooks in which he wrote them down in Roman letters to Kyosuke Kindaichi and his nephew Mashiho Chiri. Some of these were published with Kindaichi's translation and annotations as the 9 volumes of the Ainu Epic Yukar Collection (1959-66).
