[Electric/Electronic Clocks]
The idea of using electrical power instead of manually winding a mainspring gave birth to battery clocks and electric clocks from the mid-18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. For example, many types of clocks were made, including those that used an electric motor to wind the mainspring at regular intervals, those that used electromagnets to drive the pendulum or balance, and those developed by American Henry Ellis Warren in 1918 that used a synchronous motor that rotates in tune with the frequency of electric light lines. Furthermore, master and slave clocks, which use an electrical signal from a single accurate master clock to simultaneously operate multiple slave clocks, are often installed in train stations and various rooms in buildings.
