[Classical modern international politics]
The basic model of modern international politics is the state system, which is an international political system consisting of sovereign states, which was formed in Europe. It is also called the Westphalian system after the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648. A sovereign state is characterized by a double supremacy: it does not have judges who are superior to other nations internationally, and it has superiority over other social groups domestically.
