…The Meissen Manufactory got off to a brilliant start in 1820 by inviting the talented chinoiserie painter Herold and in 1831 the great sculptor Kändler to the workshop. However, the secret techniques were stolen just nine years later by Du Paquier of Vienna, who established the Vienna Manufactory, and the second porcelain manufactory in Europe after the Meissen Manufactory was born.
