…After graduating from Peking University, he became a researcher at the Academia Sinica Institute of History and Philology in 1928, where he led the excavation of the Anyang Yin Ruins together with Li Ji, and began studying oracle bone script. He established the foundation for oracle bone script chronology with his works “Commentary on the Fourth Edition of the Great Turtle” (1931) and “Examples of Studies on the Disjointed Period of Oracle Bone Script” (1932), and developed these into the groundbreaking work “Yin Calendar” (1945), which restored the calendar system of the Yin dynasty.
