Born in the fourth year of the Horeki era. He was adopted by Murata Ichibei, the first head of the Daimonjiya brothel in Shin-Yoshiwara, Edo. He was active as a part of the Tenmei Kyoka world and presided over the Yoshiwara Ren. He was also known as a collector and appraiser of old coins. His wife was also active in Kyoka under the pen name Akikaze no Nyobo. He passed away on June 12, 1828, at the age of 75. His real surname was Okamoto. Another pen name was Bunro.
