School infectious disease

Japanese: 学校伝染病 - がっこうでんせんびょう
School infectious disease
The School Health Act defines infectious diseases that require special attention in places such as schools where students live together in groups as school infectious diseases.
School infectious diseases are divided into three categories. The degree of risk of infection is considered in order from Type 1 to Type 3, and rules are established regarding measures such as suspension of attendance.
●Type 1 Ebola hemorrhagic fever, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, severe acute respiratory syndrome (only those where the pathogen is SARS coronavirus), smallpox, plague, Marburg disease, Lassa fever, acute poliomyelitis (polio), cholera, bacterial dysentery, diphtheria, typhoid fever, and paratyphoid fever.
●Type 2 influenza, whooping cough, measles, epidemic parotitis, rubella, chickenpox, pharyngoconjunctival fever, and tuberculosis.
●Type 3 enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infection, epidemic keratoconjunctivitis, acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, and other infectious diseases.
The principal will suspend attendance of any student who is infected with, or is suspected of being infected with, an infectious disease, or who is at risk of being infected, clearly indicating the reason and period of suspension . In addition, if necessary for preventive reasons, the principal will temporarily close all or part of the school.
