Tranquillityite (English spelling)
A mineral unique to the Moon with the chemical formula Fe 8 (Zr,Y) 2 Ti 3 Si 3 O 24. It also contains small amounts of Ca, Al, Mn, Cr, N b , rare earth elements, Hf, and U. Its crystal system has been reported to be either hexagonal or rhombohedral, but it is unclear. It has a fluorite structure with a unit cell of a = 4.85 Å. It is deep yellow-red in color and almost opaque. Its specific gravity is 4.7. It occurs in the form of strips less than a few tens of microns in size, along with late-stage crystallized minerals such as troilite, pyroxferroite, and cristobalite that fill the gaps between pyroxene and plagioclase grains, in the marine and highland rocks of all Apollo landing sites.
