Since a single mistake with pharmaceuticals can be life-threatening, their packaging places more emphasis on safety and hygiene than packaging for other items, and is strictly regulated by the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law and standards for pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality control. Specifically, this includes the safety of packaging materials that come into direct contact with pharmaceuticals, as well as protection against deterioration due to moisture absorption and ultraviolet rays, and, in the case of tablets, against damage.
