Akikawa - Meisen

The town is located in the southern part of North Hamgyong Province, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, upstream of the Hwadae River. It is part of the Kilju-Myeongcheon Rift Valley and has lignite and other mineral resources. To the east is a hot spring area centered around Mt. Chilbosan.
