Located in the western Mediterranean Sea, it is currently the westernmost island of the Balearic Islands, an autonomous region of Spain. It is a hilly island with a highest point of 468m. Grains, grapes, and figs are cultivated here, and its capital, Ibiza, has been a good port since ancient times. It retains a diverse biota and has many ruins from the Phoenician period, and was registered as a World Heritage Site (combining nature and culture) in 1999. It covers an area of ​​approximately 540 km2 and has a population of approximately 25,500 (1995).
