...In certain areas of China, esophageal cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, and liver cancer are particularly common. It has been suggested that esophageal cancer is caused by foods high in nitrosamines, nasopharyngeal cancer by the spread of EB virus, and liver cancer by chronic infection with hepatitis B virus. Liver cancer is also common in Southeast Asia and Africa, but in these cases, food contamination by aflatoxins is considered important as well as hepatitis viruses.
